WongDoody does meerkat boogie in zoo ad
WongDoody takes insufferable little-kids-and-animals cuteness to a whole new level with this world-beat promo clip for an upcoming meerkat exhibit at Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo. The annoyingly infectious jingle, “Do the Meerkute,” features lyrics like, “Meerkats are fuzzy, with long pointed tails/They like to snack on scorpions, lizards, snakes and snails/Open your teeth and make a crunch/You just ate a scorpion lunch/Ewww!” The song was written by Chris Ballew of the Presidents of the United States of America, whose next career stop will be scoring a Butterfinger spot. Erik Estrada’s not so cute in the candy bar’s recent spot , though he seems to be wearing a meerkat on his head. —Posted by David Gianatasio

Earlier today, I said that the popular new “Guy Walks Across America” video would make a great tourism ad for the United States , but there was already some grumbling across the Web that the YouTube sensation is actually a promotion for Levi’s. So I went straight to the source, the young filmmakers at Conscious Minds , and asked them...
For the second straight week, Nike appears to be the most successful brand advertiser without actually being a sponsor of the event, per YouGov. However, in the United States, where Nike had previously been the biggest Buzz improver, it seems as if it has pulled back on its “Write the Future” advertising efforts, and its Buzz scores have...
The DirecTV commercial with Chris Farley (for which David Spade was reportedly paid $200,000 ) seems to have disappeared from the airwaves, and has been replaced by the Wayne’s World 2 spot above with Dana Carvey and Kim Basinger, neither of whom perished years ago from drug abuse. I wouldn’t classify this as a famous movie scene. Garth...
American Legacy’s “Truth” is back with new ads from Arnold that feature a laughably dangerous fictional popsicle called Shards O’ Glass to represent how cigarette companies continue to sell a product they admit to be harmful. Not only are these ads funnier and less sanctimonious than the usual “Truth” fare, they...
Grey dredges up the old “A vs. B” routine for United Moving. “A” is United, which offers “a seamless professional move” with seasoned pros who take extra-special care with your stuff, etc. Company “B” traffics in chaos, uses bee-infested containers and sets your possessions on fire. I dunno, I guess...
For the New York Design Week, the Cite curators Alissia Melka-Teichroew and Jan Habraken had created a 400 square feet “skeleton house” in the Cite shop that they filled with a selection of current work made by renowned and emerging international designers and companies from many different countries and backgrounds, all currently living...
Here’s a timely spot by Lunch Partners for the Sydney International Airport dealing with the topic of air rage—or actually, pre-air rage (referred to here, faux-medically, as “pre-flight tension,” or PFT). The actress deserves a prize for her jet-fueled, over-the-top, hyper-bitchy performance as a harried traveler who’s...
Not unlike WPP Group CEO Martin Sorrell’s “less worse” assessment of the 2010 advertising marketplace, consumers are less anxious about the recession but remain cautious about how they spend their money, according to a new global survey from The Boston Consulting Group. The anxiety levels are highest in Spain, Mexico and Japan, and...
It would almost be better if, like her 30 Rock persona, Tina Fey’s commercial debut had been in a low-budget sex-line ad . Because at least that would merit a laugh, unlike the stunningly drab bank spot below, which helped launch Fey’s screen career. “In 1995, we cast a terrific young Second City cast member for this spot,”...
The crescendo that will be the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December continues to build today with the release of the song “Beds Are Burning.” This marks the start of phase two of the “tck tck tck: Time for Climate Justice” campaign, created by Euro RCSG on behalf of former UN Secretary...

AdBuzzCanada (Tom Ritchie) : RT @AdFreak: It's almost 9/11, which means it's time for another tasteless 9/11-themed ad. Thanks, France! http://bit.ly/a3SbpJ.. Updated : 2010-09-07T20:44:34Z | Reply | View Tweet |
